SOUTH PORTSMOUTH, Ky. (WSAZ) - A Kentucky man was seriously burned in a house fire Tuesday afternoon.
Fire investigators say 42-year-old Michael Stockham suffered second and third degree burns on half of his body while trying to escape a fire on Spruce Alley in South Portsmouth.
South Shore's Assistant Fire Chief says Stockham lived at the home with another relative, but he was the only one inside when the fire started.
Kentucky's State Fire Marshal's Office is handling the fire investigation.
At this time, a cause has not been determined. The home was destroyed.
He remains hospitalized at Cabell-Huntington Hospital's burn unit in serious condition.
